ACTIVE PROGRAMS

Brilliant Minds - Kids’ Education

Walking Palms helped lead the fight against learning loss during the pandemic, with in-person programming our most vulnerable kids were able to catch up academically, regain invaluable social skills and thrive. Today we have created a new program ‘Brilliant Minds’ that focuses on creative arts and sciences and building community resilience.

Women’s Health

COVID-19 has disproportionately impacted women in developing countries. School closures have thrust child care onto women who only recently had begun making gains in employment opportunities, protection from domestic violence and other liberties women in the developed world have enjoyed for decades. We look forward to the launch of our Women’s Health program later in 2022!

In-Home Diabetes Care and Nutrition

In collaboration with our in-house nurse, a local nutritionist and our international medical team, Walking Palms is offering comprehensive diabetes monitoring and care to low-income seniors. We recently added weekly vegetable deliveries to support preventative lifestyle changes which are often economically out of reach for our patients.

Leading the COVID-19 Response

Despite progress in controlling the virus, the pandemic still dominates economic and social life in Ecuador. Walking Palms' multi-pronged approach is keeping residents safe, stimulating economic activity and helping our most vulnerable students make up for lost time in the classroom.
