Field Trip Fun!

Our kids had a blast on several summer field trips!

They visited the tropical dry forest where they worked with conservationists to reforest endemic trees, a permaculture farm where they learned about sustainable agriculture and got to make artisanal cheese from scratch, and to the children’s library where they received fantastic puppet shows!

Community Programming

Walking Palms with help from our summer Fellows, visiting research, and clinical psychologists worked to run community workshops on El Niño preparedness.

These workshops were part of a four part series that were dynamic and hands on!

Participants learned about El Niño climate dynamics, impact on health like extreme heat, mental health, food security, chronic disease and vector borne disease.

Fellows worked on children’s climate change education initiatives, research on climate impact on forced migration, and community workshops for El Nino preparation.

They spent one month learning together with local staff and discovering the beauty of coastal Ecuador!
